TOUR MATCH DAY 2 – Match Ends In A Draw

The tour game ended up in a draw as SLC President’s XI ended the day on 403 for 7 wickets – with Lankan batsman Dinesh Chandimal finding his form back as he scored an unbeaten 190 runs.

With already 391 runs on the board, Bangladesh decided to give the bowlers a go from the first ball at Day 2. The Tigers didn’t take long before striking as Taskin picked up 2 wickets in an over to reduce the SLC President’s XI to 12 for 2 wickets. Mustafizur, on his return, picked up his first wicket quickly as well. It was looking very comfortable for Bangladesh.

Chandimal, however, had ideas of his own. He has been poor with the bat lately and took this opportunity with both hands to get back to form. He partnered with the middle order and lower order batsmen to take SLC President’s XI past the Bangladeshi total. He remained unbeaten at 190 runs as he was well assisted by the lower order batsmen. Karunartne, the young bowler, played an aggressive knock and got to his 50. The SLC Presiden’s XI ended the day on 403 runs and the match ended in a draw.

With regards to the bowling, no one really stood out except for Taskin and Mustafizur for Bangladesh. Hoping that the bowlers have left the best for the test match for the actual game.

TOUR MATCH DAY 1 – Bangladesh Dominant As Tamim Scores Century

Bangladesh started their tour of Sri Lanka strongly as they piled up 391 runs at the end of Day 1 after being sent to bat by Sri Lanka Board President’s XI.

With Imrul Kayes ruled out of the series due to fitness issue, Soumya Sarkar partnered Tamim Iqbal to open up the innings. Soumya’s poor run of form continued as he was sent back very early in the innings for 9 runs – The boy seriously needs to step up to cement his place in the team. Tamim and Mominul batted beautifully as they negotiated the bowlers with ease. Mominul retired at 73 runs, making room for the new number 4 batsman, the captain, Mushfiqur Rahim. He did alright as till the moment where he was cleaned up by Karunaratne at 21 runs.

Tamim on the other had was batting with authority and got himself a century as his innings included seven sixes and nine fours. He batted till the Tea session as he retired at 136 runs. Shakib, Mahmudullah and Liton, all scored runs with ease. Mehedi’s romance with binary numbers continued as he fell cheaply for 1 run. Bangladesh ended the day on 391/7  with Liton and Taijul unbeaten on 57 and 4 runs respectively.

Hope to see more of the dominance tomorrow from the Bangladeshi boys.
