The tour match against Bangladesh and India A ended up as a draw. It has not been the best of matches for the players. The team would surely have to up their performance if they want to be competitive against a very good Indian side on their turf.
India A continued their dominance with the bat from where they left off yesterday – both the batsmen scored centuries before they retired. The only 2 bowlers that picked up wickets were Subashis Roy and Taijul Islam – 3 wickets each. The other bowlers looked a bit toothless in a pitch that looked pretty good to bat. This further adds the question about the poor batting approach of the Bangladeshi batsmen.
India A racked up a big score of 461 runs before they declared – 3 of their batsmen scoring century. Taskin and Shakib did not play this match – have the played the bowling stats could have looked different – who knows?!
Tamim and Soumya led Bangladesh to a strong start in the second innings. It is certain that this pair will open for the test match against India as Imrul Kayes has been ruled out the series due to a thigh injury – Mossadek Hossain has been called in as his replacement. This is an opportunity for Soumya to take the situation by the scruff of the neck and make his mark into the team. He batted well again today, had a decent start but fell for 25 runs. This is something he needs to work on converting his decent start into a big one. Mominul came in and left immediately as he was out for a golden duck. Riyad and Tamim carried on till the end of the day finishing at 1 and 44 respectively – ending the game as a draw.
Not the best of performance from the team here. A lot of effort is needed to do well in this series. Hoping that the players have kept their best for the main show.
