Tour Begins With Win

Bangladesh have began their away tour with an emphatic victory against the Big Bash team Sydney Sixers – winning by 7 wickets in the first warm-up T20 game.

Bangladesh calling themselves BCB XI here was lead by Mashrafe. Their star players Shakib, Tamim and Mustafizur did not participate providing an opportunity for others to make a name for them. Mash won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sydney sixer started off well but the Tigers clawed them down to restrict them to 169 runs. A competitive score none the less. The surprise package here was the top wicket taker for BCB XI was Soumya Sarkar – Yup! You read it right – bagging 3 wickets for 5 runs in his one over. Taskin and Taijul chipped in with a couple of wickets. The rain also took part due to which the target was revised – Bangladesh now had to score 84 runs in 8 overs to win the game.

The openers wasted no time as they came out all guns blazing. They accumulated 17 runs off the first over to give BCB XI a flying start. The man of the moment with the ball, Soumya Sarkar, took charge with the bat as well as he reached 20 runs in just 9 balls. However, wickets fell in quick succession to peg the Tigers back slightly. The brother-in-laws had plans of their own and took control of the game. Both Riyad and Mushfiq batted with composure and remained unbeaten at 28 and 15 respectively, to register the first win of the tour.

A good overall performance by the Tigers. The result will surely boost their confidence going forward in the tour.
